Chris Fagan’s leadership has delivered Brisbane its second ever AFL premiership three-peat, a feat previously accomplished by the club under Leigh Matthews from 2001 to 2003. This time, between 2024 and 2026, Fagan guided the Lions to successive grand final victories over strong contenders Sydney, Geelong, and most recently the Fremantle Dockers.
The latest premiership decider saw Brisbane come from behind, overturning a 17-point deficit in the closing minutes to defeat Fremantle 14.12 (96) to 12.17 (89). This astonishing finish not only secured the championship but also cemented the Lions’ status as a modern AFL powerhouse.

Fagan’s Future Uncertain Despite Ongoing Contract
Although contracted through 2027, Fagan admitted to uncertainty about whether he would coach another season. Addressing speculation at the fan event, he remarked on the demanding nature of the role, citing the relentless pressure and the need to assess his energy to continue delivering at the highest level.
